Things to look out for when applying for ADSL
After much research and feedback from customers of other ISP's I am confident to promote TSN's ADSL plans. one of the best features of the TSN plans is their up front approach to letting customers know of extra charges they may face. And to their credit their Flat rate plans are the BEST by far. Here are a few reasons why you should go with Great lakes Online with a TSN ADSL account.
- Unlimited downloads! not restricted to tiny 200mb a month limits then hit you with a charge per megabyte over your limit like the large ISP's. A Telstra or Dodo account could cost you over $70 a month when you are expecting to pay less then $29. Don't be fooled by flashy advertising and offers of discounted access for first month or three. you will most likely go over your limit and be hit with excess charges that will make you wonder why they say it is so cheap.
- Beware of 'Free gifts', one national ISP is giving away MP3s players when you sign up. The postage and handling charge on this 'free gift' is $24. You can buy an MP3 player for around that if you are a good bargain hunter.
- No Fixed Contracts: If the prices drop on broadband as they have done for last few years you are still locked into your plan Great Lakes Online and TSN offer 'no fixed contracts'. If you cancel your connection in the first 6 months a $66 fee applies. This is a fee charged by Telstra to 'de-activate' your phone line. Most other ISP's charge a lot more to disconnect and even make you 'pay out your contract' if you choose to break it. This could be in excess of $700! depending on your contract. Say NO to fixed contracts.
- Free modems: Most ISP's offering a free modem with your set up are generally only free if you sign up for a 24 month plan. With price drops over the 24 months you will end up paying a lot more then the value of a free modem.
These observations and comments are made by Great Lakes Online and may or may not reflect TSN managements views.
